To start with...

After being incredibly lazy concerning bloging during 5 months in Ghana, somehow I've found a tiny little bit of energy and motivation to keep those who are intersted in what I do up to date.

To give you guys a short summary, I've been to Ghana from 1 October 2008 until 2 March 2009, working as a volunteer for Cantonments Youth Academy in Accra. Inapprehensible poor living conditions were touching my heart from the very first moment. Knowing that kids I am working with don't have a place to sleep, or haven't eaten anything the whole day, and also seing their football-equipment in such bad conditions made me thinking like: "Damn, I don't kow how, but I'm gonna change that!"

After my travels in January, I met Mark, an American guy, who just started running the academy. He was telling me that he struggles as well with what he experiences, and after a while, he told me about Goals 4 Ghana, a non-profit-organisation which tries to enrich life of Ghana'ian kids through football he wants to set up with his friend Matt. I was immediately enthusiastic about this idea, and I asked Mark about participating. Though the whole foundation-procedure is/was complicated as hell, we all have huge plans,a strong will and desire to do whatever we can to make as many kids smiling as we can.

To start with, we are focusing on one hand on getting as much used and not-used football equipment as possible, on the other hand, on raising money and getting inital donations.

Why football?
Firstly, our passion is football, secondly, it is passion of 99,7% of Ghana'ian kids as well. Of course football can't solve all the Ghana'ian issues, but as I experienced during 5 month, it is an excellent thing to start with, as it is teaching them much more than just football-specific things.
But of course, at some point, we would like to supply more than "just" balls and cleats.

Exact goals are not defined yet, as it all mainly depends on the amount of money we will be able to raise. From my part, the only fix thing is that I will be going to Ghana in July to clarify things with locals, and possibly get links in shipping and customs.
